Role Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position at Wahiawa General Hospital is the top finance executive role for the organization and will report directly to Chief Executive Officer.

 

This hospital has recently entered into a management relationship with Community Hospital Consulting and is looking for a seasoned hospital finance leader that can work well within a system and matrix environment. The CFO will serve as the key finance resource to the local Board of Trustees, with his/her primary emphasis focused on:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of financial operation
  • Provide leadership and expertise of financial operation
  • Ensuring that management has the analytical tools available to maintain operational discipline
  • Ensuring an effective revenue cycle to support cash flow needs of the organization
  • Leveraging WGH’s pricing agreement and ensuring that the institution receives best pricing and maintains compliance with its GPO agreement
  • Maintaining and enhancing the hospital’s system of internal controls

The CFO has overall responsibility and authority for the financial operations of WGH.

 

Specifically, the CFO is functionally responsible for revenue cycle management, financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, Medicare reporting, operating and capital budget development and monitoring, audit and internal control functions, and the financial aspects of new service line development.

 

Candidates for the CFO role must thrive in a semi-rural environment, excel at developing and maintaining relationships, and have a passion about quality patient care. Face-to-face interaction with physicians, the community, the board, and the staff is critically important; thus the CFO will need to live with his/her family, as applicable, on the island of Oahu. 

Education:
  • BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business or a related discipline.
  • Preferred candidates will also possess a graduate level degree.
  • Preferred candidates will also possess a CPA. 
Prior Experience:

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

 

While candidates with for-profit experience will be considered, they must be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of what it means to be not-for-profit, and a true sense of commitment to the concept.

 

Experience

  • A senior level healthcare finance executive, with a minimum of 5 years of hospital CFO experience required and 10 years within healthcare environment.
  • Requires managerial experience and demonstrated understanding and experience with hospital revenue cycle management, accounting, accounts payable, budgeting, treasury, audit, tax, information technology and materials management.
  • While candidates with experience in either not-for-profit or for-profit organizations will be considered, it is important that the individual possess either a track record of success in a not-for-profit organization or an in-depth understanding and appreciation for the mission and values of not-for-profits.
  • An individual who has been actively involved in community activities, and voluntarily played leadership roles in those community activities.

  •  A person of unquestioned integrity and moral character; an individual the organization and community can trust without reservation. 
  • Strategic thinker who can develop and execute performance plans to address goals for service, quality, people, financial, and growth areas. 
  • A leader capable of proactively supporting the mission of Wahiawa General Hospital.
