Community Hospital Consulting Announces Relationship with New Hospitals

PLANO, TX – (April 11, 2014) Community Hospital Consulting, the management and consulting arm of Community Hospital Corporation, has announced agreements to work with two new hospitals – Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, Texas, and Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, Georgia. Through its three distinct organizations, CHC’s mission is to guide, support and enhance the mission of community hospitals and healthcare providers.

“Our primary objective is to ensure that community-based hospitals achieve long-term success, especially as federal and state governmental mandates drive down reimbursements for both hospitals and physicians, ” said Michael D. Williams, CHC’s president and CEO. CHC currently owns or leases 10 hospitals. Bowie Memorial and Monroe County are among the 12 hospitals CHC Consulting manages or strategically supports on a year-round basis.

The agreement to manage Bowie Memorial Hospital – a 49-bed hospital serving Montague, Clay, Jack and Wise Counties in Texas – became effective on February 1, 2014.

“The new relationship with CHC will help to strengthen our hospital for future success and prepare for the myriad of changes occurring within the healthcare environment,” said Tim Winn, chair of the Bowie Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.

Michael McEachern, Bowie Memorial Hospital Interim CEO, added, “We are excited to be on a new path to ensure that quality of care remains the priority for residents of Bowie and surrounding areas.”

The agreement for CHC Consulting to provide Advisory and Management Support Services to Monroe County Hospital – a 25-bed hospital serving Monroe County and surrounding areas – became effective on April 4, 2014, after receiving unanimous approval by the Hospital Authority of Monroe County.

“Our mission and values are closely aligned with CHC – to provide compassionate community healthcare that meets the public's expectations,” said Tony Ussery, chair of the Hospital Authority of Monroe County.

Kay Floyd, CEO of Monroe County Hospital, added, “Our Hospital Authority is extremely proactive in keeping our hospital viable and available to our service area. We are excited to begin collaborating on several levels with CHC for their expertise and resources which are often outside the reach of a stand-alone facility.”

As the engagements get underway, CHC’s expert teams across areas such as the revenue cycle and supply chain will be hard at work to identify areas for operational, financial and clinical improvement. “We are rolling up our sleeves to identify ways to run the hospitals as effectively as possible,” said Mr. Williams.
