Community Hospital Corporation Announces Gary Looper as the Recipient of the President’s Leadership Excellence Award

Plano, TX (October 17, 2012) — Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) is pleased to announce the 2012 recipient of the third annual President’s Leadership Excellence Award. Gary Looper, CEO of Memorial Health System of East Texas, Lufkin, was recognized as a motivating and visionary leader who possesses relationship-building skills and a contagious passion for enhancing health care in the community.


“It is my pleasure to present the President’s Leadership Excellence Award to Gary,” says Michael D. Williams, CHC’s president and CEO. “His leadership and vast expertise helped drive the current direction of Memorial Health System of East Texas.”


Before Gary entered into his current position at Memorial Health System of East Texas, Lufkin, he was a member of the Community Hospital Corporation team as an interim Chief Executive Office and Regional Manager of Central Texas Operations. At that time he also provided interim CEO services to King’s Daughters Hospital in Temple, TX. While with CHC, he assisted in identifying opportunities for CHC’s growth in the Central Texas region by facilitating the development of relationships with others, and managing the relationships with key stakeholders in the Central Texas area.


“As interim CEO, Gary utilized his vast experience to position the hospital for future success,” says Janet Coates, CEO at Mother Frances Hospital – Winnsboro, TX who nominated Looper for the President’s Leadership Excellence Award. “His ability to mentor, support, and always be willing to share his expertise and allowed not only the hospital to grow but also all those around him.”


Williams presented Looper with a Waterford crystal bowl and $500 gift card at the August 20th meeting of the CHC Senior Leadership team.
